“Land of the Bible” Course
Land of the Bible Study Tour for Consultants
JCBT Open Course Scheduled for January 6th-19th, 2019
Limited to 20 participants!
The Jerusalem Center for Bible Translators 2019 course for Bible Consultants and Consultants-in-Training is now open for registration.
This 14-day course includes 12 days of study-tours relating Scripture text to its historical, archaeological, cultural, linguistic and geographical context. With Bible in hand, trips to the Biblical sites throughout the Land are experienced with an eye toward Bible translation issues. The program is uniquely designed for consultants and Bible translation project administrators. If taking the course for credit, pre-and post-study tour assignments will be required.
We will accept up to 20 participants. Accommodations will be at the JCBT Log Home and Forest Home Dormitories, only a few meters apart. The fee for the entire course in the land (including room, board, field trips and entry fees, lectures, etc.) is $1,850 per person with double occupancy.
One consultant attendee, overwhelmed by his experience in a previous course on the Land of the Bible, commented:
“When I travel to an international conference I expect to learn three new things in three days, but here it was an exception that I had not already learned five new things before noon. I do not exaggerate if I say that after six months, I still appreciate and use what I experienced there–both in my teaching and translating of the Hebrew Bible–on a daily basis.”
And another consultant shared:
“What this study tour did for me was to give me an index of my ignorance regarding the geography and some of the context of the Holy Land.”
