"One Book at a Time" Course Has Begun

The two-weeks course that focuses on the prophet Micah, will start this Monday, October 28th. The 14 students consultants, Mother Toungus Translators, Teachers, and Coordinators are already made their way to Israel and officially started their course. Represented by many different Bible Translation organizations (such as United Bible Society, Wycliffe, Seed Company and SIL) and 11 different countries (like Ethiopia, Nigeria, Brazil, and Mexico), the group represents a variety of Bible Translation projects around the world.

Three Students from 2018 “One Book at a Time” Course.

Drs. Ernst Wendland and Lynell Zogbo will instruct the group through this unique course for the second year, after the successful Psalms course of last year. The course will provide an in-depth exegetical study of the book of Micah based on the Hebrew text, a discussion of its geographic, cultural and historical context, as well as its many translation challenges, especially focusing on producing natural poetic texts in mother tongues.

In addition, on-site field trips and excursions to areas related to selected texts of Micah, including important geographical-archeological locations, museums, are led by JCBT’s outstanding tour guides Dr. Halvor Ronning (Co-Founder and Director of JCBT) and Mr. Brian Kvasnica (ABD, Hebrew University).
